Wardy created numbers 2 to 4 in his first New York studio, a former office space in a building where other artists also rented spaces. The building was demolished when the World Trade Center was constructed. During 1971, Wardy moved to 70 Thomas Street, just blocks away between West Broadway and Church Street, to what became his longtime studio. The other works pictured were made there.
